How to talk to your congress member

  1. Find your representatives at https://www.congress.gov/members/find-your-member

  2. Fill out this spreadsheet with your representative is, your/their location, the contact info of who you're meeting with, and your contact informationand organization.

    1. We encourage you to meet with the representative with other members of your community as well! Call on your networks and communities/schools/congregations/teams to take action together.

  3. Schedule a meeting by accessing the contact page of the representative’s website and look for “schedule a meeting” on their contact page or at the bottom of their page. 

  4. Use the Phone Script or Email Script to ask for a meeting. 

  5. At the meeting, use the Talking Points document to guide your discussion. If you do not know an answer to a question, please just say you do not know. 

  6. [IMPORTANT] Make the asks:

    1. Sign onto the Omar (House) or Markey (Senate) letter to Biden advocating for a Fair Share NDC.

    2. Talk to the White House about the upcoming NDC and what we would like to see in it.

  7. Follow up with an email after the meeting to thank them for the experience and remind them of your asks and what you discussed.

  8. Fill out the spreadsheet to report on what happened in the meeting.
